End September is (amusingly from the name) Oktoberfest time.

Time to search for the best Bratwurst in Connecticut.

This Brings us to Wurst Haus in West Hartford.

Belgian Fires

Solid.

The fries are well cooked.

Not overcooked or undercooked.

Lots of crunch to these.

Just solid overall.

Bratwurst

Okay, so here’s the thing.

I’m convinced this place has two head chefs.

Head Chef #1 is in charge of the source and cooking of meats.

Head Chef #2 is in charge of toppings.

Head Chef #1 knows what the hell they are doing.

Head Chef #2 has no clue.

The disconnect between the meats and the rest is astounding.

I’ve been a couple times, and its always the same.

The Bratwurst itself is wonderful.

There’s a phenomenal snap.

It’s extremely juicy.

Well cooked.

Just great.

The bun is like a standard potato bun. Nothing much there.

The toppings? Trash.

The sauteed onions are mildly sauteed.

The sauerkraut is plain.

The Roasted Peppers? Straight out of a jar.

Even the beer cheese is mild to almost the point of tasteless.

Currently it is one of the best Brats in CT. Once they get their toppings together, they can be even better.
