What brought us to The Engine Room in Mystic?

No idea.

It has all the makings of a classic hipster-esque restaurant from 2014.

The food is not bad, with pretentious (but good) ingredients and high prices.

They even seem to not infrequently invite bands from Brooklyn to perform.

The burger (grass0fed, of course) is what was highlighted. So we gave it a shot.

Grass Fed Burger

It’s actually called the Grass fed Burger.

First, the burger is completely overcooked.

This is because the beef doesn’t really have fat.

All the ingredients are local (of course).

The sauce is decently spicy (using a craft bred pepper (Habanada).

The tough beef is underseasoned, needing basic salt and pepper.

Mostly what you taste is the onions.

The cheese is good though!
