Just in time for Valentine’s Day, we are working through reviewing all of the Chocolate Makers in Connecticut. Next up, Sweet Ciocolatta in Wallingford.
The offerings here for chocolate truffles are fairly standard.
So I went with what they said their best was, and a straightforward all-chocolate version.
Neither were amazing.
I also had some samples of the chocolate covered pretzel, but they may have been sampled because they were a little old, so will reserve judgment.
Milk Chocolate Truffle
The all-chocolate option.
The interior is rich and pleasing, though the exterior doesn’t quite match up.
An aftertaste that never seems to go away is a little odd and detracts from the overall experience.
The Rating: Milk Chocolate Truffle
On to what they said was their best.
Dark Chocolate Salted Caramel Truffle
The caramel and salt blend well, offering a satisfying contrast to the dark chocolate.
However, the chocolate’s quality resembles that of Hershey’s.
And again with that unquitting aftertaste.
Good, maybe better in milk chocolate?
The Rating: Dark Chocolate Salted Caramel Truffle
Overall, it’s fine. There may be some secret combination of milk chocolate and filling, but it’ll require digging.
