Looking for a Speakeasy-themed cocktail bar? I Know You Know in New Britain has got you covered.

This cocktail bar has a code to type into a keypad to get in (the code is posted on their instagram stories each day).

Then, a bookcase looking door opens into a good sized dimply lit space.

They do not allow standing room, so you have to either wait (wait times get up to an hour on busy nights), or try and reserve a spot.

The food, as you’ll see isn’t bad.

Where this place really shines is the cocktails.

Ricotta Toast

So sticky.

The flavor is mostly blueberries and honey.

The toast has the consistency of a crispy french toast.

But it is just too sticky, and it gets to you over time.

American Slider

A cheeseburger slider.

This mostly just tastes like garlic.

Garlic on bread.

The garlic mayo is spread on both top and bottom buns, and is heavy.

It completely crods out the other flavors.

Good, but nothing special.

Parmesan Truffle Fries

Really hard to screw these up, especially as they are tater tots.

They do a good job with them a little on the softer side but pretty damn solid

So solid they got gobbled up before I could snap a pic!

Brussel Sprouts

Very heavily charred some wonderful fresh cheese thrown in.

There is a little balsamic drizzle that adds to the sweetness, and even the pickled onions go well.

Everything comes together really nicely here.

So food-wise, most things are fine, and some pretty solid food mixed in.

But this is a cocktail bar.

The first time speakeasies were cool in the 21st century they were dominated by mixologists, people whose idea of creativity was to take ingredients that nobody likes, and make them into cocktails that were passable to drink.

All the cocktails we tried were excellent and definitely would come back for (and have!).

This is not a place to get drunk, because the service is slow and the drinks are small.

But the menu is wonderful it’s a nice place to stop in.
