I don’t know what we are going to do with Arepas. Are there enough in CT to get a ranking going? Should we try to find the best Arepas in Connecticut? Maybe, but even if there aren’t enough, it will be fun to try. Here we try Somos Handcrafted Arepas in New Haven.
Pork Carnitas Arepa
For a small street shop, there are quite a few combinations.
So we asked for a recommendation and were told to start with the Pork Carnitas.
The pork is wonderfully juicy but not so much that it harms the cornmeal pocket.
There is a nice crust on the pork that you wish there were more of.
The picante sauce (hot) is excellent and it goes wonderfully.
Overall, if you find yourself in this area (say, at Barcade nearby), this is a great stop for a bite.
