On the search for the best French toast in Connecticut brings us to Ken’s Corner Breakfast & Lunch in Glastonbury.

This place is a proper diner, with a large flatgrill in the back responsible for cooking almost everything.

Enough people had recommended this place that I of course had to try it.

They have all the standard diner options, eggs, omelettes, breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, French toast.

The French toast here is simple, presented exactly as you see it in the photo.

The little pieces on the fringes come from an excess of egg in the batter, giving the French toast a salted egg taste.

But the main flavor you first get is the butter.

To make French toast on a griddle, you need a giant piece of butter, which this has (in a good way).

The bread is chewy and pulls apart easily.

There is only a small hint of cinnamon, which maybe could be improved on, but once syrup is added everything comes together wonderfully. A great example of diner-style French toast.

There is a stuffed version, stuffed with strawberries and whipped cream, which I will definitely be coming back for.

The rating:

Buttery goodness with strong salted egg flavor. Only an extra light dusting of cinnamon, with syrup these are great!
