On the search for the best fried chicken in Connecticut brings us to Lilly’s Soulfood in Windsor.

Fried chicken
Okay, the smell inside here is wonderful.
The fried chicken comes wrapped up in foil, but looks very thin.
There really isn’t much breading.
Its more like the skin is used as it’s own breading.
It’s a big contrast to a place that does the double dip in egg batter.
This chicken seems to have more been dropped into spices and flour directly.
The meat is really tender, which is great.
But it’s sort of like pork rinds surrounding tender meat.
Chicken rinds.
Half a chicken is a good size, as the meat is a little small, so go that route.
Maybe I need to get used to it more.
I was originally thinking it was just fine, but then I looked down and after scarfing down the whole thing, realized this is pretty good fried chicken.
