Connecticut is filled with diners, but Chez Ben Diner in Manchester is a Canadian-style diner, with their signature gravy and cheese fries.

Poutine

Poutine is a classic Canadian dish that is often eaten late at night after a night on the town.

Here, there are numerous poutine options, but to try it we went with the classic first.

Gravy and cheese curds.

The fries are a little undersalted but nice and super crispy.

That helps slow down the inevitable getting soggy.

The cheese curds are solid and decently sized, neither too big nor too small.

A little bit of sourness from the curds is what you are looking for.

The gravy will bring you right back to your childhood.

It has that heavy black pepper flavor that reminds you of frozen Salisbury steak.

Overall, this is excellent.
